In 2012 I recorded the first mix of the “Progressive By Nature” series. All tracks selected are part of my vinyl collection and have been released in the early 2000s.
The mix starts with the Terry Grant’s laid back “I’ll Kill You” which was released on John Digweed’s Bedrock label in 2005. The next three tracks/remixes by Blackwatch, Luke Fair and Gardner & Thomas represent the dark and deep type of Progressive House music which I was into shortly after I started DJing.
Lemon 8’s remix of “Contagious” and GPal’s Pandesia Dub of “Krafty”are followed by Mara’s “Coming Down”. The Subway Baby remix of “Aftersphere” was released by the legendary label Q-Records and marks the start of the second half of the mix. Smith & Lavelle’s “Escape” with its bouncy grooves and weird noises was one of my favourites back in 2002.
“Woven Air” by Ice Cream Social is followed by the legendary DJ Nukem remix of “Diversion” and Dirty Vegas’ “Brazilian”. “Twister” by Drax & Gooding and Chab’s remix of “Faith” are followed by Jarrod & Gilbey’s “Monkey Trousers” and Powerplant’s “Turn It Into Gold” which marks the end of the mix.
