The promo mix “Summer 2015” was recorded after a break of almost two years. My beloved Progressive House sound of the early 2000s was long gone and I still didn’t really know where to go musicwise.
I took some more or less recent tracks and mixed them with a bit older material. The result is surprisingly interesting at some points but awful on other occasions.
After a small intro things start with a mellow deep house affair suddenly changing into a great DnB track and back again. Thanks to James Zabiela for this wonderful mashup. “Stimulation” by Hakimonu & Roi Okev was released on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat and is some nice melodic deep/tech-house. The Los Suruba remix of “Paris” works quite nicely as well as the Larry Heard’s club mix of “Say You Won’t Ever”.
The remixes of Ame and Nomand In The Dark (which don’t work in this mix at all) are followed by the fantastic Detone mix of “Inside World”. The Nu-Disco vibes blend into the slowly pumping grooves of “America” – a standout track by Tobi Kramer featuring the vocals of Florence Bird.
After an old progressive banger by Cirque the last part of the mix features tracks and remixes byRon Flatter, Nhar, Coma and Gutterstylz and turns out to be the most solid section of the set.
